Day 18 was the HIIT 15 and Tone 30 classes for TurboFire. Now I've already done the HIIT 15 a few times and I’m nailing that consistently with getting the moves in, raising the intensity and really starting to see the effects I think from these HIIT workouts. I’ve added a couple times now some weighted gloves and you’ll definitely notice the difference when you start increasing the intensity like that.
The 2nd workout for day 18 was the Tone 30 class. This was my first time doing this one. It was is a Total Body workout that uses a band and the stretchy leg band that comes with the program. You go through 3 distinct ‘routines’ after the warm-up of working different parts of the body. What I really found amazing was that I had a tough time with the band I choose. Now the significance of that was it wasn’t the toughest band I have. And what I notice as Chalene moved through the different body parts working them from the different angles is you feel the burn. If you don’t, you aren’t doing it right and you need to step it up.
As mentioned this is a total body workout. You’ll hit each of the major muscle groups including the triceps, biceps, chest, back, shoulders, legs and core in the 30 minutes. And don’t think you won’t feel it by the end. You may have to experiment a little with what band to use and in what length to choose to get the most benefit out of it.
Towards the end when we are doing the thigh specific exercise, i was struggling with the way I had setup with the stretchy band. struggling to the point where I had couple feel my legs shaking from the amount of tension that I had to work through. I was happy about that. I was a little skeptical about that leg band but if you do it right, it works. You can also use a regular band for the exercise. I did try it out afterwards and found it be just as effective. The nice thing about using a normal band is that you can really control the intensity more granularly. Just my perception of it.
So my promise to you and everyone out there is that I'll keep pressing play, and hopefully you will also. Let’s do this together. contact me with any questions and I know that you will find something that will work for you!

This week of TurboFire has been going strong. Had the Fire 45 EZ class on Monday and the HIIT 25 on Tuesday with some stretch 10 class after each. Then followed up by a wonderful rest day yesterday. I had been up early for some work related stuff and it worked out perfected. I even got in a much needed nap.
I am really starting to dig these workouts more and more. The HIIT 25 was definitely a sweater and got you to really push yourself pretty hard. I think I have really gotten things figured out with most of the workouts in these first 3 weeks. I’ve found taken it slower at times, rewinding when necessary and just focusing on the moves, that the intensity level will continue to go up and the results will be even better. I’ve already noticed that my calorie burns have been higher each workout compared to the previous time doing the same type of workout. That is a bonus!
It doesn’t take much to get the job done. These for some would be considered ‘extreme’ workouts. But Turbofire is not designed like that. It is a program that can really be done by various levels of fitness and health. You work through the moves more and more each day till you get the routine down. You follow the low impact version that is given during the workout and work your way up to the higher intensity moves. It’s just like anything in life. But the only way to get the changes in motion is to start. DVR that soap opera or TV show, put down the WII or Xbox, don’t go snacking on chips and dip at night. Commit yourself to 30 – 45 minutes a night of activity.
These are shorter workouts than I am use to in the past. A few have been 45, 55 minutes, but the idea in mind here is to get the most bang for your time. You put in higher intensity, you get out longer term calorie burns. Especially on the HIIT workout days. Great cardio endurance.
So my promise to you and everyone out there is that I'll keep pressing play, and hopefully you will also. Let’s do this together. contact me with any questions and I know that you will find something that will work for you!

Day 3 was a rest day per the schedule. I did end up doing a run that morning. Just over 3 miles. Day 4 of TurboFire was Fire 30 class and turned out to be really nice. I was able to raise the intensity level up as I got a better feel for the moves throughout the 30 minutes. What I did find that I had to do was turn off the ‘music’ piece. I was having a tough time hearing Chalene with it on. Once I did that, I could hear here talking about the move quicker rather than waiting to see it.
My latest Video update on YouTube can be found here on my channel.
I still have a bit of problem in the last sequence and in the 2nd part of the ‘fire’ drills that go for one minute. :) But the name of the game is perseverance. I’m still in the game, working through all the moves and will have them all figured out soon enough. It’s easy enough to pause, rewind, play again till you get a firm grasp. I play mine on the computer so I can also slow it down so I can watch her go through the motions better. Great little tidbit for troubleshooting moves if you as well are having any problems.
Remember, that if you are in there pressing play, playing the game, doing something daily, it doesn’t matter so much that you are a master at the moves or are doing everything that you see on the video’s. The key is that you are active. That you are moving each day, doing something to promote your health and fitness. Over time you will become more successful with the moves, able to raise the intensity and just maybe be at the same level as those in the class.
Keep pressing play, keep showing up for class. I know that I will. You have anything you are interested in talking about beachbody products, your current or future workout programs just contact me. It would be my honored pleasure to assist you in anyway that I can. Sharing my experience, paying it forward to everyone out there is something that I enjoy and really helps motivate myself as well to continue to achieve my goals and dreams.

So day 2 of TurboFire 90 day program, HIIT 15, continued the trend of making me sweat and push myself. I have done the HIIT 15 workout a couple times before and I am glad that I have. It has allowed me to be stronger in the moves and not be so uncoordinated trying to keep up with the ‘class’. You need to be ready to give your maximum effort, high level of intensity when you hear the ‘siren’. Oh, you’ll come to love the ‘siren’ as you do this workout. :)
You can check out my video log on YouTube for day 2 here on my channel. it’s been fun getting back into the world of videoing and blogging more often. It has really helped me motivate myself more because I'm showing everyone the excitement that I’ve found in a new program (can you say variety) and it’s going to be an awesome 90 days.
So this TurboFire HIIT 15 class. it was just long enough to what I feel is a taste of what is to come in the coming weeks. After a short introduction to the basic moves in the beginning of each sequence (there are 3) you then move into the more intense section of the workout. As I mentioned before there is this ‘siren’. That basically means for a period of time, 30-40 seconds, you will be pushing yourself, you will be giving Chalene and the rest of the class your maximum effort to get results. You will do this 3 times. This will raise your heart rate for those 30-40 seconds (high intensity) then you’ll come back down (recover) for a short period of time and repeat. Don’t be fooled by the fact that it is only 15 minutes.
Keep checking back as I’ll keep talking more about these workouts as they come along and how they are transforming me throughout the 90 days. Lot’s more fun to come and glad to be able to share it with everyone.
If you make just one decision today, I implore you to simply go for a walk. 15 minutes. That’s all I ask. If you want to be even more adventurous go for a short bike run. Maybe a short jog. Build on it. Look to challenge yourself and commit to a workout program that you find appealing and do it. There are so many to choose from it is hard NOT to find one that fits your current and future fitness needs. Let me help you find the right fit. Just contact me. I would love to share my experience with you and get you going.

I will say that day 1, TurboFire Fire 30 class was awesome. I realized just how uncoordinated I am but I still enjoy it. :) I did my best and I will only get better over time as I continue to press play each day and learn the moves more and more. What rocked was that the wife got in there and rocked it with me as well. She really enjoys the dance type workouts and it shows. But I was glad to have the added support and motivation from the wife working out with me and getting herself into the ‘game’ as well. Going to be a great 90 days!
My video log of day 1 can be found here on my YouTube channel. Look for some clips from the day 1 workout to be posted there soon.
So what was the workout like? It was intense. I was working up a sweat out the gate and it never stopped till we finished 30 minutes later. Chalene does an great job of putting together continuous moves that keep you engaged and with an intensity level that is just kicking the calories burning up a notch! Even only running a mere 30 minutes, it felt like you were packing in an hour long workout worth of ‘work’. That’s the benefits of these type of workouts. They don’t have to necessarily be long to get the benefits. It’s about working smart.
What I have found is that one major benefit of this workout program is that anyone can do it. Chalene has structured it with the different workout partners on the ‘stage’ with her doing a non-impact type version so that most anyone can get into the mix and enjoy getting this program. This program will get you results and just requires you to make that commitment. It’s your for the taking. Life changes are often hard. It’s how you handle it what counts. Only you can go out there and press the play button or make a change that will allow you to be happier, live a longer fulfilling life with your friends and family. You have support, motivation, accountability partners, but you need to take that first step.
I look forward to this new 90 day challenge. The past year and a half have given me a new profound outlook on fitness and my desire to push myself harder but while still retaining the ability to have fun at it. I won’t do it if I can’t enjoy myself also. I’ve said that from day 1. So find what allows you to have fun and do it. It’s out there. There is something for everyone.
You want support, accountability, some daily motivation, or just a simple hello from someone who shares in your interests and desire to become healthier and happier in life then contact me. I’m here and would be honored to.

Alright I’m definitely in for some major butt kicking. :) My next 90 days, as the title says is TurboFire. I’m really looking forward to this. I’ve been previewing the discs and have already done the HIIT 15 workout that came with the Tony Horton One-on-One a month or so ago and let me tell you all now, WOW! This is some major calorie burning, body toning, all out cardio endurance program. I’ve done Insanity 2 rounds now and I’m scared. :) But in a good way.
My Kickoff Video can be found here on YouTube. . I’m really excited to be doing some new video again. Watch for video updates quite regularly as I am trying to find my form from day 1. That is probably going to be the hardest part for me. I’m not use to consecutive moves in a row, but I’m not letting it deter me from reaching my goals this round and just having fun and staying healthy! All about staying motivated, engaged and ready to mix things up and get results. Variety is so much fun.
Begins: June 28th, 2010.
Speaking of goals. Here are a couple.
- FInish the 90 days strong. Fight through those temptations to either skip a day or to dog it that particular workout. Also I want my free T-shirt. :) Take those before/after pictures and measurements. Total motivators when you see yourself after 90 days.
- Shred the fat. I still got fat to trim down. I’m thinking about 5% BF down over the next 90 days. I don’t need weight loss. I’m sitting comfortably where I want to be. But I need reshaping some.
- Have fun!
- Continue running. As I expand my cardio endurance with TurboFire and all the benefits that I’ll be getting over the next 90 days, hopefully I can continue to cut time off my minute splits. The next 10K I hope that I can break the 50 minute mark.
- Log into WOWY each day. Share my love to press play each and everyday with friends and fellow workout partners. Create accountability. I’ve already set my auto-schedule. Consistency is key. Shoot for 9PM EST every night)
I’ve attached a couple screenshots of the ‘class’ schedule that we’ll be following over the next 90 days. I’ll update with one that was similar to my P90x/Insanity Round 4 hybrid. I like the idea of checking off each day as I go. Love visuals.
So if your interests are peaked, your excited to try out the next big challenge, contact me. I would love to talk to you about what is out there and which direction to proceed. It’s going to be an AWESOME summer of working out and keeping oneself challenged, motivated and on task. But that is what it is about. With a side of fun along the way. You can do it.
